Microwave intrusion detection system

μltraWave™ is Senstar’s newest generation of volumetric perimeter intrusion detection system consisting of an all digital transmitter and receiver that create an invisible detection zone that alerts when unwanted intrusions occur. μltraWave works reliably in extreme environments and provides networking for remote alarm reporting and configuration common to other Senstar sensors such as OmniTrax®, FlexPS™ and X-Field®.

Application

Transmitters and receivers can be located up to 200 m (656 ft.)apart. They are post-mounted and installed facing each other to form a cylindrical zone of detection where intruders are reliably detected night or day regardless of weather conditions. µltraWave can be used by itself to provide intrusion detection around an entire
perimeter or as a gap-fill solution where another security system acts as the main sensor.

FiberPatrol-PR

Point-reporting intrusion detection system

Fiber Optic Sensors for Fence, Pipeline and Dataline Protection
FiberPatrol-PR’s advanced fiber-optic technology provides up to 16 km (10 mi) of protection per processor when used in perimeter applications. For protection of buried pipelines against Third-Party Interference (TPI), the FiberPatrol-PR’s ranging sensor provides up to 48 km (29 mi) of protection per processor. No powered or conductive items are required in the field, making the sensor completely immune to EMI and lightning and intrinsically safe in the presence of explosive atmospheres.

FiberPatrol-PR accurately locates intrusions even when there are multiple simultaneous intrusions or in the presence of non-localized environmental noise that would overwhelm the location capability of other long-range fiber-optic sensors. FiberPatrol-PR’s resilient design allows detection to continue right up to the point of a cut in the sensor cable. When installed in a redundant configuration, FiberPatrol‑PR protects the full perimeter even after a cable cut.

FlexZone™

Ranging fence-mounted intrusion detection sensor

FlexZone™ is Senstar’s latest generation ranging fence-mounted sensor. FlexZone detects and locates any attempt to cut, climb or otherwise break through the fence. It accurately locates intrusions even when there are multiple simultaneous intrusions and in the presence of background environmental noise.

FlexZone can detect and locate perimeter intrusions over a distance of up to 600 metres (1,968 feet) per sensor processor, and within 3 meters (or 10 feet) of accuracy. One processor can support up to 60 distinct, customizable zones. Both power and data can run over the sensor cables, minimizing infrastructure requirements. Advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) enables FlexZone to adapt to a wide variety of fence types. FlexZone builds upon Senstar’s 30 plus years of perimeter security experience to deliver a sensor that is simple to install, provides networking capability for remote configuration and alarm reporting, and works reliably in the most harsh environments.

How it works

Using signals generated by the minute flexing of its sensor cable, FlexZone detects and locates intruders climbing, cutting or lifting the fence fabric. High-speed sampling ensures that the FlexZone processor captures a precise picture of the fence signal and enables advanced algorithms to discriminate between intrusion signals and environmental noise. This maximizes the probability of detection while virtually eliminating nuisance alarms caused by environmental effects such as wind or rain.

OmniTrax®

Ranging buried cable detection sensor

OmniTrax® is the fifth generation, covert outdoor perimeter security intrusion detection sensor that generates an invisible radar detection field around buried sensor cables. If an intruder disturbs the field, an alarm is declared and the location of the intrusion is determined.

Application

Sensor cables can be direct-buried in a variety of mediums including most normal soil types, asphalt and concrete. In soil the cables are buried approximately 23 cm (9 in.) below the surface. In asphalt and concrete slots are cut approximately 6 cm (2.25 in.) deep The terrain-following, volumetric detection field is typically 1 m (3.28 ft.) high by 3 m (9.84 ft.) wide by up to 800 m (2625 ft. or 1/2 mile) long per sensor processor. Systems can be standalone or networked for long perimeters whereby sensor cables are connected together to create a continuous perimeter.

How it works

OmniTrax uses ported (“leaky”) coaxial sensor cables to create an invisible elecromagnetic detection field. The cables are designed with apertures in the transmit cable’s outer conductor which allow energy to escape and be retrieved by the corresponding parallel receive cable. OmniTrax uses a patented coded pulse signal technique to determine the exact intrusion location, which can identify multiple intruders simultaneously.

Detection is based on the intruder’s electrical conductivity, size and speed. The Probablity of detection (Pd) for an upright 35 kg (77 lbs.) intruder, penetrating through the detection field and moving between 50 mm (2 in.) per second to 8 m (26 ft.) per second is greater than 99%, with 95% confidence. Objects weighing less than 10 kg (22 lbs.) are rejected with a statistical confidence level of 95%. Any attempt to tamper with the cables, the processor or its enclosure, causes an alarm.

OmniTrax sensor calibration is simple. Walking down the sensor cables while in calibration mode allows the system to automatically adjust to the sensitivity of each meter (3.3 ft.) and thus compensates for site variations. Buried cable installation has never been so easy with calibrated thresholding.

Each OmniTrax processor can divide the perimeter protected by its two cable sets into as many as 50 alarm zones. Zones can be changed at any time by technical personnel using the UCM software.
