Perimeter Protection Newsroom
Perimeter Protection, the international trade fair for perimeter protection, fencing technology and building security, has enjoyed impressive growth. As it opens its doors at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg for the sixth time from 14 to 16 January 2020, it will provide further proof that its distinct focus on the security of outdoor sites and facilities is really striking a chord with the sector. It is expected that there will once again be a significant increase in the total of 135 exhibitors that took part in the previous event. Of the companies already registered for 2020, 12 percent are new exhibitors taking part in Perimeter Protection for the first time. They will showcase the entire spectrum of mechanical, electrical and electronic security solutions for perimeter protection. Trade visitors, including security officers for local and long-distance transport networks, airports, football stadiums, industry and power plants, representatives from the police and armed forces as well as architects and building services designers, are also set to significantly grow in number. A new feature this year is a free forum that delivers a wealth of specialist expertise on various security-related issues. In addition, the new thematic focus on drone detection and defence will be reflected in both the exhibition and supporting programme.
The preparations for Perimeter Protection 2020 are currently in full swing. Alexander Stein, Director of Perimeter Protection at NürnbergMesse, can already offer a very positive forecast a good five months ahead of the event: “We are delighted by the numbers. We have already exceeded the display area booked at the last event, visitors can look forward to a lot of new exhibitors, and more than 50 percent of the companies that have registered to date are from outside Germany. This shows us yet again that our concept is being very well received across Europe.” A topic that is only peripheral at other trade fairs takes centre-stage in Nuremberg. The fact that Perimeter Protection is the only trade fair to focus on the security of outdoor sites and facilities and presents the combination of mechanical, electrical and electronic security technology far more comprehensively than any other exhibition results in countless benefits. “Particularly noteworthy is the intensive personal contact between us as organisers and the industry and between experts and decision-makers. Thanks to the distinctive focus of the trade fair we can guarantee its high quality and avoid the drawbacks of a scatter gun approach to marketing the event. In 2018, for example, 91 percent of trade visitors were involved in the decision-making processes at their companies. This is an absolutely top result for a trade fair to achieve. It means that we know exactly what is driving the industry and can approach the latest issues in a targeted fashion,” Stein continues.
Thematic focus on drone detection and defence
One of these special issues is the surveillance and protection of air space against unmanned flying objects. In response to the rapid increase in the number of drones and the possibilities they offer, the field of drone detection and defence is one of the main focus areas at Perimeter Protection 2020 and therefore delivers comprehensive information on recognising, identifying and defending against drones.
