The Perimeter Protection Congress, a new format for the Perimeter Protection security trade fair, will make its debut in 2026. The two-day event will take place on 22 and 23 April 2026 at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre and will complement the international trade fair with an in-depth forum and a strategic analysis of current developments in the protection of critical infrastructure and modern security architectures.
Entitled “The New Dimension – The Digital Twin in Perimeter Security”, and powered by the German Security Technology Association (VfS), the congress forms part of Perimeter Protection’s Connected Events. The aim is to examine and contextualise the latest regulatory, technological and organisational developments in perimeter security from a practical perspective.
Key programme themes: Regulation, technology and implementation
The programme of the Perimeter Protection Congress addresses the key issues currently shaping and significantly influencing the security sector. Particular attention is paid to the CRITIS umbrella law, which, as the new legal framework, imposes significant requirements on operators of critical infrastructure.
Prof. Dr Clemens Gause, Managing Director of the Association for Security Technology (Verband für Sicherheitstechnik e.V.), explains: “The fact that the CRITIS umbrella law has now officially come into force sends a strong and positive signal to the entire security industry. The crucial question, however, remains: how can the law now be implemented in a concrete and practical manner?”
In addition to the legal framework, the congress also addresses the technological drivers of perimeter security. These include, amongst others, BIM (Building Information Modelling) and 3D-based planning models, which open up new possibilities in planning, simulation and ongoing security operations through digitally precise representations. Also on the agenda are biometric procedures, which are setting new standards in access control and identity management, as well as NIS 2 with its Europe-wide requirements for cyber and information security.
The high-calibre conference programme is complemented by an exclusive table-top exhibition, where 15 selected companies will showcase their products, systems and solutions. In an informal setting, participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with suppliers, learn about specific use cases and explore technological approaches in the context of the presentations and discussions.
“The aim of the Perimeter Protection Congress is to translate existing expertise into concrete solutions and to take the next practical steps together,” says Benedikt Weyerer, Executive Director of Perimeter Protection. “The digital twin clearly demonstrates how modern perimeter security can be implemented today – integrated into existing systems, resilient in operation and future-proof in its further development.”
Part of Perimeter Protection’s Connected Events
The conference is part of Perimeter Protection’s Connected Events. These bring together selected event formats with closely interlinked content to form a year-round platform for exchange, knowledge transfer and networking in the fields of perimeter protection, fencing and access control.
The series of events kicked off back in February with Perimeter Protection’s participation in the international security trade fair Enforce Tac. The Connected Events will be complemented in the summer by the Fencing Championship in Winsen/Luhe, which puts the spotlight on the craftsmanship of the industry.“
Our world is becoming increasingly complex, and we are constantly faced with new and unknown crises and disasters. To ensure we are not caught off guard, we must protect ourselves accordingly,” emphasises Benedikt Weyerer. “The Connected Events demonstrate that the security industry is solution-oriented, highly innovative and well-positioned for the future, particularly in challenging times.”
