In a rapidly changing world, there are many topics that significantly influence perimeter security. Just to name a few examples: the KRITIS implementation law, cloud technologies, BIM (Building Information Modeling), 3D, biometrics, NIS-2 – and more. All of these developments require extended measures and bring perimeter security into a new dimension.
Many of the associated requirements are still open, as the KRITIS implementation law – a fundamental basis – has not yet been adopted.
What does the National KRITIS Resilience Strategy entail?
With the KRITIS umbrella law, which was finally adopted on January 29, 2026, and the National KRITIS Resilience Strategy, the Federal Government aims to comprehensively strengthen the resilience of critical infrastructure.
The strategy establishes the following points:
- The uniform identification and registration of critical facilities across Germany,
- mandatory technical, organizational, and security-related measures to increase resilience,
- clear requirements that operators can use to plan their protection and emergency response concepts,
- as well as guidance and example measures that serve as guidelines for implementation.
As the legally mandated measures are being implemented step by step, we already sought at that point to prepare, together with you, for what will become relevant for operators of critical infrastructures in the period ahead. To this end, we presented initial approaches for action, developed concrete implementation steps, and—where possible—already initiated practical measures.
As part of our congress held on 22 and 23 April, we addressed these topics in detail. On that occasion, we discussed with you how institutions and companies can meet the new requirements efficiently and effectively.
The objective was to learn from the experiences of recent years, address current challenges, and actively shape the future. For this purpose, we presented planning guidelines, implementation strategies, and practice-oriented solutions, and jointly planned the next steps—such as necessary training measures, further specialist conferences, or the development of specific planning tools.
